This ensemble is perhaps one-of-a-kind in Holland, because it consists of a violins, violas, and a cello to which there is a rhythm section add. (Rhythm section: upright bass, piano, and drums.)
This is a relatively new ensemble, established only 6 ago, by director Pieter van den Dolder, and coordinator of the musicians, Desiree Wijma, along with a team of like- minded, culturally-passionate individuals.
The most delightful thing that I find about the Vegas Strings is that the players are talented and versatile enough to have a very broad repertoire. In the concert, they played classical music, tangos and boleros, Disney classics, as well as swing tunes, torch songs, and bossanovas with my singing. A great many of these arrangements – with great rhythmic ideas and lush harmonies- are arrangements by the director , Pieter van den Dolder himself.
